Description

Donatos Chairwoman Jane Grote Abell will share her strategies for creating a great culture in a family business. She’ll teach you her four C’s -- compassion, character, courage and conviction  -- and give examples of what’s worked for Donatos, including tips for creating a positive culture in a family business for both family and non-family employees.

For starters, Jane teaches a class for new managers and gives out her cell phone number so they can reach her any time they have an issue that needs her attention. Having a great team that she trusts allows Jane to focus on Donatos’ mission to promote goodwill through product and service, principles, people, and public service, while managers take care of customers on the front line.

One of the reasons that Jane spearheaded efforts to buy back Donatos from McDonald’s in 2003 was that she and her dad - founder, Jim Grote – wanted to bring back the company culture that focused on a quality product, good customer service and a rewarding work environment. They’ve done that – and more – and she’ll share their journey with you during this program.

You’ve seen her on Undercover Boss, now come out to meet her in person to learn how to create a successful culture in your family business. You’ll even get a sneak preview of Jane’s new book and an opportunity to win one of the first copies when they come out later this fall!
